Murphey's Midnight Rounders
Murphey’s Midnight Rounders is an Acoustic/Country group with their feet firmly planted in Folk music. Their original material runs the gamut of human emotion while their vocal harmonies have an impact that is fresh and inspiring.
Brad Murphey has distinguished himself as a versatile songwriter, arranger and guitarist. Original songs, such as, "Tom's Song" and "Soul of the Nation," are soulful fragments of lost dreams. Others, such as "Third Bombay" and "Uncle Chronic," give us insights into his twisted sense of humor. His arrangements of standards like, "Hard Times Come Again No More" and "Long Black Veil" are fresh and emotional. All three members of the group take turns singing lead and backup vocals.
Along with Murphey is Teresa Frank on vocals and, at times, second guitar. As our percussionist, she plays Bodhran, Congas and Djembe. Teresa's harmonies sweeten the texture and her solo work on songs like "Tom's Song" tug at the heart.
Rounding out the group is Bonnie Hanna-Powers. Bonnie's background in musical theater has been a boon. Her harmonies are bright and expressive. Her renditions of songs like "Wild Mountain Thyme" paint pictures in our minds.
Murphey’s Midnight Rounders has performed at Festivals, Pubs, Clubs, and Coffeehouses around the Midwest and beyond.
